The Bully Lock with Pager Review

Bully Locks is sort of an unknown in many ways; you see their bike locks in dealerships and in catalogs all over the industry, but you don?t necessarily hear about the company?s products often. We do know that they are distributed by Tucker Rocky and Biker?s Choice, so you will see them more and more now that you know the name. Bully makes several models of locks currently, and has one for just about any occasion or need. An interesting recent addition to their line-up is the Bully Motorcycle Alarm Lock with Pager?yes, a pager.

The Bully Alarm Lock is looks and operates (essentially) like a standard u-lock which you may be quite comfortable using with your bicycle. However, Bully has given this one an alarm which will sound should anyone try to move, remove or tamper with the lock ? it?s loud enough to attract everyone?s attention. The nifty part of the Bully Alarm Lock, though, is the long-range paging system which will alert you should the alarm lock be set off for any reason; the pager device resembles an auto alarm remote in size.

You should know that Bull Locks builds the Alarm Lock with hardened metal alloys which are resistant to sawing, torching and long-term corrosion ? the unit should last as long as your bike?maybe longer. The casing used to secure the alarm onto the body of the lock is rugged and well-built so that it does not mar your wheels or scratch any paint. Installation is a snap, provided it fits properly (you should study the dimensions closely) on your bike?s wheel, and it only takes a few seconds to put it in place and activate the alarm ? it?s automatic engagement works flawlessly.

The wireless pager is brilliant! It will function to tell you immediately when the alarm is set off for any reason so you can quickly get to your bike. The range is a bit of a question, but it does seem to function for about the same distance you would expect from an auto alarm remote; so, that means that it is not a normal telephony pager, but a radio-frequency connection. As long as you are within range, you will always know if your bike is disturbed.

Advantages of the Alarm Lock run the gamut from excellent portability, no connection to your bike?s battery, no wiring harness confusion, and no wiring at all to deal with. You simply carry it with you and use it when you need to. And, in some cases, you can even use it to secure two motorcycles at the same time.

The Bully Locks Alarm Lock with Pager was voted as one of the best new products for 2008, the year it was first released, and it continues to receive rave reviews. The suggested retail price for the Alarm Lock with Pager is US$150, but it can be found for much less if you look; an easy buy for an easy to use security system.
