Hawk X-60TB Review

Hawk Alarms has been in the industry for over two decades now, all the while with a singular dedication to protecting our valuable vehicles with the best alarms money can buy. They produce both automotive and motorcycle alarms and provide some of the best fitting and technical help in the industry. The company is based in the U.K., but it seems that most of their products are built in Italy ? for the U.S. this means transoceanic support, but they are there for you. Their Hawk Alarms X-60TB is much more than simply another alarm, though, it is a talking alarm!

The talking voice alarm system integrated into the Hawk X-60TB will tell you the system is armed, disarmed and will even yell at a thief in conjunction with the siren. This feature can be disabled as well, and then only chirps will indicate alarm status ? and that chirp can be silenced as well. Of course, the important noise is the 125dB six-tone siren, which includes a battery back-up, and you and your neighbors will no doubt be alerted to someone tampering with your machine.

Hawk has fitted the X-60TB with a military-grade random code generator for communication between the remote and the alarm; there is no chance of someone grabbing or scanning for your alarm?s code. The standard dual immobilizer system is included, along with two other alarm settings ? ferry and valet ? for those times when you do not need all of the alarm?s capabilities, and an ?auto rearming? setting can be used. You can even remotely start your motorcycle with the Hawk X-60TB ? no need to insert the key in the ignition for this to function ? making warm-ups a bit simpler. Last but not least, the panic mode will sound the alarm and disable the engine in case you are bike-jacked.

Sensors used in the X-60TB include a patented 3D dual-axis shock system which can be adjusted and even disabled via the remote. A perimeter sensor is included and can be installed to conveniently keep the curious at bay from your bike, and he system is protected from hot-wiring attempts using a current sensor. To keep the alarm powered, the X-60TB includes a battery back-up for the siren (which can sound for as long as 30 minutes on the auxiliary power) should the power be removed, and it only draws a measly amount of juice from the bike?s battery, even less when in long-term storage.

Just in case you lose your remote, there is an emergency secure override. The alarm even has a programmable EPROM to save your settings long-term and a memory function which will tell you if someone set off the alarm while you were away. If the battery in the remote starts to wind down, it will alert you so that you may replace it. Plus, if you desire it, you can use the optional output for a GPS/GSM tracking solution so the authorities can find your bike should it be stolen.

Installing the Hawk X-60TB is made all the more easy thanks to the intricate installation instructions provided by the manufacturer. An entire wiring diagram for your bike?s make and model is shipped with each purchase ? if they don?t have your specific model, they will produce one. Locating the alarm body is also well thought out by Hawk as it is about the size of a credit card, only much thicker. The siren, battery back-up and a very bright blue LED may all be located away from the main body in the best location to be heard and seen. As expected, the whole assembly is shock, tamper and waterproof.

Hawk Alarms claims that the X-60TB is the world?s only taking alarm which allows the ?voice? to be configured via its remote. To be fair, the X-60TB is the only alarm at this price which includes all of the wide variety of features this one possesses. And, Hawk provides some of the best support in the entire industry ? that?s hard to beat.

The suggested retail of the Hawk X-60TB is US$90, believe it or not, and can be ordered directly from the manufacturer for a nice discount.
