Hawk Alarms provides some of the best support for their alarm products in the industry; they provide you with everything you need to install their products on your bike and someone is there to help if you run into trouble. The Gemini 7854 is the top-of-the line Hawk model which also has won Thatcham Category 1 certification from the United Kingdom?s insurance industry, and it is laden with all the features you expect from an alarm of this caliber.
Hawk ships the Gemini 7854 with two remote transmitters, and it is with these that you are able to program the settings of the alarm itself. You can change sensitivity, disable some features and ? obviously ? arm and disarm the alarm using the remotes. A panic button is available in case you need the noise or someone attempts a bike-jack. These small units use a military-grade rolling code system to communicate with the alarm so that it cannot be scanned by criminals. They are also shock and waterproof.
Just in case you should lose one of those remotes there are two methods for using the alarm in an emergency. One electronic override key and a PIN code override are both provided with the Gemini 7854 for exactly that issue.
The bike?s battery only needs to provide 3mA for the Gemini 7854, and even less when the alarm goes into long-term mode. This means that any motorcycle equipped with a 12-volt electrical system is compatible with this unit. Should it die on you, there is the standard one year manufacturer warranty.
All in all, the Hawk Gemini 7854 works fantastic and the support you get during install is really second to none for this class of accessories. For the first time in a long time, there is actually a company that trusts the rider with installing an alarm on his or her own bike. It?s a great setup for people looking to get an insurance discount and top-of-the-line security.
The Hawk Alarms Gemini 7854 has a suggested retail of US$184, but the manufacturer sells it on their website for less than this.
